The Detail

For some chores, I needed to do some detailing. After that I went kitesurfing. The wind was not that good and it didn't last long either. Overall, I still had fun and I guess that is all I can ask for.

The Drumming

On the boardwalk, you never know what you may find. I shot a lot of people and a hobo when I heard some music in the distance. I followed the sound and sure enough I found a large group of drummers, dancers, tambourinists and other artists playing near the Huntington Beach pier. It was really easy to get shots of the people there and they just loved it. I just wish all things were that easy.

The Boggled

I have been thinking about upgrading my camera for quite some time, and I have been going back and forth though this though process of: if I were to get a new camera with my budget, what would it be? I may have come to a conclusion, but I want to sleep on it and come up with a plan after I fully think things thoroughly. I cannot take this lightly, but I need to be sure that upgrading to a better camera is a valid investment in my photo business. However, at this point, I am not sure.

The Dance

Going back and forth between all things related in your life can be really weird, sort-of like dancing. Today, I have been "dancing", to say the least, but things are probably going to get more interesting/difficult. Let's just hope for the best.

The Slides

Scanning slides is a lot more work than scanning strips of negatives. But, money is money, and I need it. I have also been thinking about upgrading to a better camera for sometime, and now I think I may actually do it.

The Birthday

For my birthday, I spent much of my time thinking. I was not too concerned about what I wanted, but I spent time reflecting and I spent time trying to figure out how to solve my problems. I did figure out a way to solve one of my problems, but that is just scraping the tip of the iceberg. My birthday wish is to have all of my problems solved however, I doubt that anyone could do that alone. All I really want is "just a little help from my friends."

The In-N-Out

I finished the product photo shoot today and it was on of the faster ones. We bought some of the product to use which shortened the working time and made things much easier. Post-production took awhile though, but it overall was not too bad for my first paid job as a photographer. I just hope I get another gig soon.

The Other Shoot

Today was my first shoot that was with a person. I was a little nervous, but I still did a most excellent job. I cannot believe how I have had so many shoots in a short amount of time! I wish everyday were like this! Then I would make more money to put to a better use. Tell your friends about me, I really need it.

The Broke(n)

I believe that my camera is broken, and I do not know what to do! It is still in working order, but all there is a shift in appearance between what I see in the optical view finder and the sensor. Furthermore, I have another shoot tomorrow! So, I have to figure it all out soon, otherwise, everything will be in flames.

The Products

Today was my very first paid photo-shoot. I had never done a product shoot, let alone a real shoot, and I would have to say that I did very well except for one thing: after the shoot I accidentally broke a lens. I forgot to zip my camera bag before I slung it on. I'm trying not to get too upset, I just think about what my photo professor told me: Cameras and lenses are only tools. Sometimes, something can happen, so don't get upset, it's only a tool.

The Mass Climb

I finally got a large group of friends together for a climbing session. We all had a lot of fun while we still had the sun, but the sun became clouded and we said our goodbyes for the time-being.

The Cleaning

I cannot believe my whole day was wasted by cleaning the house. When I finished my chores, it was night. On the bright-side, I did get in some more night photography.

The Circle

I went back to my favorite genre of photography: night photography. It's nice to have fun with you work and it loosens me up. Now I'm ready to go for more intricate things, but I need to find my own inspiration first.

The Greater Heights

I think I may have discovered the secret to being a better photographer. I was rock climbing today and I no longer was afraid of falling. I had climbed to greater heights, found other climbs, and paid no attention to the consequences; I was a free climber. I experimented with new routes and I had made a few falls, and after it I was done, I realized how photography and climbing are very similar. I realized: how am I to take a great picture if I am tense and afraid? How could I do anything scared? The answer is: I cannot. I need to lose all fear and simply go for it. The answer is so simple: why should I care if I shoot people I will never see again? I'm a runner. If I get chased, I'll run and it's likely that I'll beat them. You only get one shot, take it.

The Dream

I've had a dream to be a reporter for the National Geographic and every now and then I see something that rejuvenates me. I saw "180º South". It's a really good documentary about rock climbing and surfing. The location was really cool, but what really impressed me was the cameraman. The cameraman did everything the other climbers were doing and more. I would really like to shoot like that, it really does help get me motivated and I cannot wait to do that in the future.

The Screaming

I spent the later afternoon at my buddy's house, and I would have to say: I don't know how his mom does it. Mother of nine kids and three are still in the screaming phase. It could very well be a parent's nightmare, but it is a great shot spot for any photographer. Kids at their finest: hitting, screaming, crying, and more all happening within the minute and they want their picture taken. Hands down, the easiest way to get kids at their best/worst.

The Organized

I have completed organizing all of my photos into a single collection all on the same hard drive. At one point, I had a panic attack because all of the files on the hard drive mysteriously went missing and I did not know what else to do than turn things on and off. Later, the files magically appeared after I started writing a letter of complaint to the manufacturer including a threat of lawsuit. Strange how the universe works in its various ways.

The Climb

Besides going out rock climbing, I have been sending my day trying to figure out how to get all of my photos organized. It could be a quick process, however when you have a ton of pictures to transfer, it tends to pile up on you. It is a nightmare. Word of advice: keep all of you stuff organized from the start, then you won't have to do it later.

The Restaurant

Restaurants are great places to take pictures. There are a variety of ways to get great shots, you just need to be creative enough to get them. Some of my favorite shots were taken at a restaurant-type setting and I have a few in some of my portfolios. You never know, just try it and give it a shot.

Macro photography can really bring the gross things into focus. Other than abstract and ghost shots, macro photography can be a lot of fun.

The Worlds

Photography, running, biking, rock climbing, and more. These are the worlds that I have become to love and be a part of. I do not know how I have become part of all of these worlds; it tires me out, but I still love it. I may say that I should rid myself of a few passions, but I won't. Chances are that I pick up more along the way.

The Fly-In

Flying on a plane to get somewhere is not very time-efficient for me; it is probably easier to drive, but the ride was fun anyway. Where I flew to was mildly interesting, but I was able to shoot strangers without getting wierd looks. So today was a success. I just wish shooting strangers would not so so terrifying for me in a public place.

The Street

I walked about the streets of old town Pasadena and I wanted to give street photography a shot. For my first time out, I failed. There were so many shots I could have taken, but I was afraid someone would chase me down and/or yell-at/kill me. So, needles to say, I was secretive. I got some good shots of people walking, children, and buildings, but what I really wanted to do was get shots of the hobos, but I was really afraid to do that. I know that  other photographers are able to get shots of strangers without their notice or have permission, but what I want to know is: how?

The Flare

I like lens flares. There is something about them that makes a photo magical and yet each lens tends to have their own type of  lens flare. Try it out, all you need to do is shoot your subject in an angle that is kind of in the sun. Just experiment and you may just have an image that will turn out great.

The Customer Service

My phone issue has been really bothersome, just because the phone I was sent was not really good at all. So, after a lot of calls to a customer service line and research on my computer, it was finally resolved, but I will no longer have a rugged phone. I'm just glad I can finally put this behind me

The Phone

Recently my awesome phone was stolen and I was really bummed out that it was gone and I will never see another like it. To cool off, I went walking and I saw this flower stand out. Somehow, it made me feel better, too bad the picture is kind of generic.

The Callus

Climbing is a lot of fun. Except I get tired, and I get tired fast. Now I just need to figure out how often I can go climbing and be able to go again the next day.
