The Block Party

The best hang out spot in Rexburg kicked off the Spring semester right with a most excellent block party. There were four bands that played on the outside stage, and although it was cold, the giant crowd and fire cans made it bearable. Out of all of the photographer's there at the event, I was the only one with the best equipment. (I'm not meaning to sound conceited. The other photographer's had better camera bodies, but I had better lenses and a dedicated flash.) I had a great time and I got a lot of great shots. You can never go wrong when it comes to Sammy's.

The Southgate

The party at Southgate Apartment was off 'da hook! I had a blast and my ears were too. I was a little disappointed that the police did not shut it down, but other than that, I had a great time.

The Area

After a long and exhausting day of classes, I went for a run that became longer than I had anticipated. After my run I laid down in the center of my room and shot what was around me. It was ... interesting.

The Late Nighter

I am a procrastinator. I enjoy having fun and I had an English paper that was less than fun. In my defense, everyone hated the assignment and was just as bad or worse at writing than I was. However, I finished it late, and I saw a ghost in the hallway.

The New

I am giving improv a try. Right now I am not good at it, but that just means that there is a lot for me to learn. On my way back to my dorm in the night, I thought that the campus lights were interesting, so I shot them.

The Basement

My dorm basement is interesting to look at. There is piping all throughout the place and it is an industrial sight to see.

The Easter Bunny

The Easter Bunny came left eggs for my cousins this morning. They were so excited to get their treats, especially the youngest. For her, there was a big surprise in each egg. I wish I could be surprised like my cousin, I actually envy that, but what can you do?

The Snow Shoe

Snowshoeing is like hiking, but on snow, and with shoes with a little more shoe. There was a great shooting area of a waterfall that I was afraid to get too close to for the sake of getting stranded in a fragile feild. I really wish I went for the shot, but staying alive is a priority of mine; somewhere in my top ten priority list.

The Playing

I didn't do too much today, but I did play and babysit my cousins. It was fun, but tomorrow I going to do a lot more fun stuff.

The Early Weekend

I am so glad that I do not have classes on Friday. Since I don't have classes I can take an early weekend. It was a little bit of a rocky start, then again many things are "rocky starts" for me. I am glad to be with family for the weekend and I cannot wait to have an awesome time.

The Exhausted

I don't think that I have done more physical activities in one day at school than I have done today. Without going into too much detail, I was so exhausted, I just laid on my back and stared at my light in my room. I don't know why, but I could not help to stare at that light for over an hour. I was completely exhausted!

The Orange

Today, a bunch of guys in my hall wrestled over an orange. Needless to say, they were not going to eat the orange. Rather, they simply want to prevail over one other. I shot them as this happened and the results were not pretty.

The Pre-Semester

This the last day of relaxation before classes start. I had a nice day to say the least and I'm ready for what tomorrow has in store.

The Social

I keep making fast friends here at school and it is a great way to meet people, but I would rather have some lasting friends instead. I have befriended some really cool people, and who knows, maybe they will last. There is one thing I am glad I'm not: unsocial. However, being social takes some work.

The Final Move

I finished my move today by displaying all of my printed photos on my wall. I have made some new friends and I ran into some old ones too, but I am trying to lure people into my room and make some new friends, but it seems as though most people on my floor are shy. I am just surprised how few people are on campus right now; it is like a wasteland! Hopefully it will get populated with some cool people for me to hang with.

The Re-Organization

Once again I have moved back into the dorms at school. I had a bit of a rocky and part of my room was falling apart, but I have moved in and am safe. Now I just need to find some awesome people and make friends with them.

The Drowsy Driver

Going to bed late, waking up early, driving all day, and sleeping late. These are things I have experienced though in a daze that I like to call my "24 hours of hell." I hate getting little sleep and functioning on that little of sleep. I wanted to shoot myself from all the crap I put myself through. The sights were nice though; that did help.

The Frenzy

Today was my last day in California before I make the arduous journey to Idaho. I said goodbye to some friends and have been packing all day! I'm still packing and have a lot more to do. I'm just looking on the bright side of things and it will be smooth sailing.

The Last Climb

After working and getting some things together, I went for my last climb in California. I was sad, but I know I will still get to climb along with other wonderful adventurous activities. So in this way, I am moving on to other things. I sure hope it is for the better.

The Shopping

Today, I was shopping around getting most of the things I need for when I go back to school. It was mostly food items, but still a hassle. I cannot wait for this moving process to be over!

The Horizon

I am going to miss California very much when I go back to school. My "Summer vacation" is nearing its end, and I will be sad. Now I just need to figure out how I can do all the things I do at home, but at school. That will be hard, but one big solution is to make friends with cars.

The Cup Cake

My cousin's daughter got baptized this morning and afterward there was a bunch of finger foods. There were many little children there and this little boy would follow me around as I was taking pictures. I shot the kid and it happened to be my best shot for the day. I am happy again.

The Lightless

We had a thunder storm today and I tried to get my camera to capture the lightning. All I got was a lit up sky and blurry trees from the wind. I am sad I did not get the shot.

The Streams

No matter what I do, I think I will always love to play with long exposures. Long exposures are lust a lot of fun and they are easy to do as well. Give it a shot, you may get a really cool one.

The Light Loops

I was practicing the spheres once again and still got not real results. So, I decided to have fun instead. I see myself appear very many times in this shot. Comment on how many times I am seen in today's shot and the next time I am in your area, I will dedicate a post just for you! However, you have to be first and you have to be right.

The Musical Theatre of Candy

The El Toro drama department’s production of “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” was a decent musical. The department has been well known for student actors that surpass the expectations of any other high school production, and this production is no exception.
The play is a mixture of the book by Roald Dahl and both movies based on the book taking a mixture of the best of all three and adding some pop culture references. The combination of all those pieces create an entirely different experience that leave you wanting to see it again.
Choreographer Julia Walker, 18, created very intricate and sophisticated dance routines for the production that tied in to the story line of the production. “I would try to decide what I wanted the dance to look like, then I would try a million different things to accomplish that vision.” The moves were most excellent and the actors portrayed their characters well.
Raymond Montoya, 17, portrayed Charlie, the leading role of the performance. Montoya performed very well in the show along with co-star Andrew Guzman, 18, who plays the Mysterious Willy Wonka. The cast choice was very good. Most cast members had a wide range of vocals, however, other cast members did not have completely developed vocals.
Although some of the cast may not be fully developed (that is to be expected for a high school production) the stage crew has more to be said about. Transitions were slow, and some of the interludes needed to be played twice. On the bright side, some stage effects looked swell. Violet Beauregarde, played by Kayla Green, literally blew up like a balloon. One stage effect that was not so effective was the flying scene. Charlie, Montoya, and Grandpa Joe, Derek Hedbany, did not look as though they were floating, but rather being lifted. However, a safe pulley system is not in a High School’s funding.
Besides minor stage issues, the performance was excellent. The students have put a great effort into the show and the results were fantastic. “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” will be playing at the El Toro High School in Charger Hall from April 6 to April 9. Tickets range from $12 to $14 and are on sale now. Get your ticket before you miss it.

The Squeeze

I recently got a hand/forearm strengthener to keep my finger strength up while I'm at school and climbing isn't so convenient. I like climbing a lot, so I am going to try to get in as much as I can before I have to go back to Idaho.

I went wake surfing for the first time today. Wake surfing was fun and I got pretty good at it too. The best part of watching others wake surfing is their wipeout, and I captured it all.

The Twins

Today I randomly went to my friends' 18th birthday bash. It was a fun murder mystery party and I am glad that I went. Too bad it was so dark that I had to use a high ISO, but it's fine.
